ThinkMarkets review: does ThinkTrader justify a broker beside MetaTrader-only rivals?
ThinkMarkets sells three accounts: Standard, ThinkTrader from $10, and ThinkZero at $3.50 a side. We checked the pricing pages, the regulator list and independent spread tests to see when ThinkTrader is worth the detour.
7.3/10
ThinkMarkets is a well-regulated broker whose raw ThinkZero account matches the usual $7 round-turn benchmark, with a tested EUR/USD spread near 0.11 pips. ThinkTrader is the reason to choose it over a plain MetaTrader shop, but it has no Expert Advisors, so it suits manual traders. Minimum deposits differ by page and entity, a monthly inactivity fee is reported, and forex pairs number only about 40.
Best for
Manual forex traders who want raw spreads plus a proprietary app and tier-one licences
Most raw-spread brokers are one product wearing three logos: MetaTrader, a commission, a leverage headline. ThinkMarkets is different enough to test on its own terms, because it built a proprietary platform, ThinkTrader, and then wrapped a separate account around it. The useful question is when that detour beats simply opening MetaTrader at a cheaper rival.
Three accounts, and the numbers that separate them
The account types page lists Standard, ThinkTrader and ThinkZero side by side.

Account types: Standard, ThinkTrader and ThinkZero, with the $50 and $10 minimums shown on the Standard and ThinkTrader cards.
The overview quotes $50 for Standard and $10 for ThinkTrader. The detail pages tell a different story, and it pays to read them: the Standard page asks for $250, and the ThinkZero page asks for $500. One independent review lists no minimum at all for Standard. We could not reconcile these, and the likeliest cause is that the requirement depends on the legal entity you are assigned. Check the figure on your own sign-up screen before you fund anything.
ThinkZero: the raw account
ThinkZero is the one that competes with Pepperstone Razor and IC Markets. It advertises raw spreads from 0.0 pips, and forex and precious metals carry $3.50 per side, so a full round trip on one lot costs $7. Everything else has no commission.
In a test reported by Compare Forex Brokers, EUR/USD averaged about 0.11 pips, which puts all-in cost near 0.8 pips per lot once the commission is counted. That is level with the cheap end of the field, not clear of it. Another tester logged 0.14 in August 2026 on a sterling account.
Leverage reaches 500:1 on the MetaTrader accounts, which offer 350 instruments on MT4 and 1,800 on MT5. The ThinkTrader account is listed at 2500:1, and the platform menu quotes dynamic leverage up to 5000:1. Those ceilings apply to offshore entities and are far above what a UK or Australian retail client is offered.
The account that explains the company
The ThinkTrader account opens from $10, quotes spreads from 0.4 pips with no commission, and unlocks about 4,000 instruments across seven asset groups.

Reviewers praise the platform's TradingView charts, its Traders' Gym for backtesting on historical data, and cloud alerts. The trade-off is stated plainly by the same reviewer: no Expert Advisors. If you run robots, ThinkTrader is off the table and you are back to MetaTrader.
So the honest split is this. Discretionary traders who want one app for charts, orders and backtesting may prefer ThinkTrader over a bare MT5 terminal. Automated traders should ignore it.
Standard and MT5
The Standard account is the beginner door: no commission, spreads from 0.4 pips, leverage to 500:1 and the same instrument counts.
The MT5 page covers the platform that carries the larger 1,800-instrument list.

What ten lots cost on each
Take a trader who opens ten standard lots of EUR/USD in a month. On ThinkZero, commission alone is $70 plus roughly 1.1 pips of spread across the ten (about $11 at $10 a pip, using the 0.11 figure), so near $81 all in. On Standard, the 0.4-pip floor is the best case; independent testers quote a published minimum nearer 1.1 pips on EUR/USD, or about $110 for the same ten lots and no commission. The raw account is cheaper only when the volume is real, and for a casual trader the difference is small enough that the platform matters more than the price.
Regulation and the costs nobody puts on the front page
ThinkMarkets holds tier-one licences from the FCA, ASIC and CySEC, plus JFSA in Japan, DFSA in the UAE and FSCA in South Africa. Offshore entities in Seychelles, Mauritius and Cayman sit beneath those. Which one you join sets your leverage and your protections.
Read the small print. DailyForex counts only about 40 forex pairs and reports a $30 monthly inactivity fee after six months, though the other review found no such fee in the documents. Bank wires cost $25 with a $100 minimum, and a currency conversion charge of 3% is quoted. UK retail losses run at 75.43% of accounts.
Who should pick it
Choose ThinkMarkets if you trade by hand, want tier-one licences and enjoy a well-built app. Pick a cheaper MetaTrader broker if you run Expert Advisors, or if you want to start below $500 on a raw account.
Leveraged trading can lose your whole balance quickly. Nothing in this review is personal advice.
